Holden was raised in Portsmouth, Hampshire. She spent a lot of her early years in Bishop's Waltham. When she was nine, she joined the Bishop's Waltham Little Theatre Company. Holden was also in TV in three series of Kiss Me Kate, starring Caroline Quentin and Chris Langham. Holden was also part of three ITV series The Grimleys and Celeb with Harry Enfield episodes. A Boxing Day special Agatha Christie's Marple episode "4.50 From Paddington", starring Geraldine McEwan and John Hannah. She co-starred alongside Bill Nighy and Tom Courtenay in Ready When You Are, Mr. McGill, a comedy drama directed by Jack Rosenthal. Holden is the judge on Britain's Got Talent along with Simon Cowell, David Walliams, and Alesha Dixon. She was a judge on Britain's Got Talent from 2006 until the year 2006.
